Afghanistan: 95 killed and more than 150 wounded in Taliban car bombing in Kabul

A suicide car bombing in Afghanistan on Saturday killed 95 and wounded more than 150 people near a police checkpoint in the country’s capital of Kabul, according to the Afghan Public Health Ministry.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which comes one week after another Taliban-claimed attack on a luxury hotel in Kabul left at least 22 people dead.

Democratic Republic of the Congo: 7,000 people flee fighting between army and 2 militias for Burundi in just 3 days

Laden with mattresses, suitcases, solar panels, chairs and plastic buckets, thousands of refugees have crossed into Burundi in the past three days to flee fierce fighting in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi police said Friday.

Nearly 7,000 Congolese have crossed Lake Tanganyika and taken refuge in Burundi since Wednesday as clashes raged between DR Congo government forces and rebels in the troubled eastern province of South Kivu.

Syria: People’s Protection Units (YPG) claims capturing 16 Turkish soldiers

The Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) have claimed that 16 Turkish troops have been captured since the beginning of fierce military clashes between the sides last Saturday.

A YPG spokesperson cited by Sputnik, also said “the militiamen lost four people”.

Cameroon: Violent clashes between army and Ambazonian forces leave 2 soldiers injured

At least two soldiers have arrived the Douala military hospital via helicopter after sustaining serious injuries in clashes with Ambazonian fighters last night at the border town of Ekok, sources say.

Military sources say the fighters launched an attack at about 4.30am on Thursday morning destroying the customs and gendarmerie posts in Ekok.

Afghanistan: ISIS militants attack Save the Children offices in Jalalabad

Five gunmen stormed the offices of international aid agency Save the Children in Jalalabad, eastern Afghanistan, on Wednesday, killing at least five people and wounding 24. The assault lasted ten hours and was eventually claimed by the ISIS.

The London-based charity said it was “devastated” by the attack, and announced it was suspending all of its operations in Afghanistan immediately.
