Afghan officials said on Monday a Tajik or Russian aircraft had bombed a northeastern Afghan border district during a clash between gunmen and Tajik border guards, but officials in both Tajikistan and Russia denied that they had done so.
The attackers were able to flee and an investigation is underway, added Radmanish.

Heavy fighting broke out in Libyan capital on Monday between rival groups under the Presidential Council’s fragile authority.
Armed groups of the 7th Brigade - a.k.a Kanyat - from Tarhuna city advanced early in the day in Khallat Furjan, Ein Zara, Wadi Rabea and Salah Eddine districts in southern Tripoli in a bid to gain more control in the region.

The Islamic State group claimed responsibility Saturday for a deadly attack earlier this week on a checkpoint in western Libya, as Libyan authorities announced the arrest of the suspected perpetrators.
“Soldiers of the caliphate assaulted the ‘Wadi Kaam’ gate, on the Zliten-Khoms road two days ago, targeting a gathering of apostate security elements” loyal to Libya’s UN-backed unity government, the jihadist group said via its Amaq propaganda arm.

Rebels in northern Chad attacked government forces this week at the border with Libya, the fighters and two military sources said on Friday, although the government denied an attack had taken place.
A fledgling rebel movement, the Military Command Council for the Salvation of the Republic (CCMSR), says it seeks to overthrow President Idriss Deby, as Chad faces threats from militants and is trying to prevent the influx of extremists fleeing the Libyan conflict.

Five soldiers have been killed and seven wounded in eastern Ukraine during an assault by separatist forces, Ukraine’s defence ministry says.
Four died during a five-hour clash near Krymske, a village 50km (31 miles) north-west of Luhansk. Another was killed by artillery fire.
