Libya’s U.N.-backed government has announced a state of emergency in the capital and its outskirts as ongoing fighting has killed some 39 people including civilians in the past days.
The fighting erupted last week between armed groups from Tripoli against others from a town to the south vying for power in Libya’s capital. The Health Ministry said the fighting has also wounded 96 others.

Sunday’s statement by the government urged rival militias to stop the fighting and abide a U.N.-brokered ceasefire.

Egypt has killed 20 suspected militants in an air strike in its western desert and shootouts in the Sinai peninsula, the military said on Wednesday, part of ongoing operations.
The government launched military operations in February against Islamic State militants who have waged years of attacks on security forces and civilians, killing hundreds.

The Nigerian Army said it had killed several Boko Haram insurgents and recovered weapons in an encounter that ensued at Zari village in Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno on Friday.
Colonel Onyeama Nwachukwu, Deputy Director, Public Relations, Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole, disclosed this in a statement in Maiduguri.

Eleven Islamic State members were killed in Makhmur region in Nineveh province, a Peshmerga official said on Wednesday.
The Kurdish Rudaw network quoted Sirwan Barzani, who is in charge of the Peshmerga in Kuwair-Makhmur region, as saying that “Islamic State actions are ongoing at regions controlled by the Iraqi forces. The Coalition jets are covering the region, in cooperation with Peshmerga.”

International human rights groups support the UN report call for the Burma military to be investigated by the International Criminal Court.
The UN report accuses the Burma military of genocide against the Rohingya living in Rakhine state and said the military were “killing indiscriminately, gang-raping women, assaulting children and burning entire villages.”
