At least 19 people were killed in a new rebel attack in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) as anger grows against United Nations peacekeepers and security forces for failing to protect civilians.
The latest attack on Wednesday took place after fighters belonging to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebel group went into a village near Oicha, about 30km (14 miles) from Beni town.

Fighting has reportedly broken out with the Mon National Liberation Army (MNLA) and government forces have seized a Mon base.
Joint forces of Myanmar’s army and the Karen Border Force on Wednesday engaged the rebel army near the Three Pagodas Pass on the Thai border, according to sources.

Syrian forces intensified their attacks against Takfiri militants in the northwestern Idlib province, managing to retake a village there.
Syrian troops succeeded in seizing back al-Musheirifa village on Sunday afternoon following fierce clashes with members of the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham Takfiri terrorist group, formerly known as al-Nusra Front, SANA reported.

The Yemeni army regained control of areas in western Marib province after clashes with the Houthi militia, state news agency SPA reported on Saturday.
The attack resulted to multiple casualties amongst the militia including deaths, wounds and destroyed vehicles, a statement released by the Yemeni Armed Forces media center said.
