Sudan: Sudanese government and Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) led by Malik Agar sign peace framework agreement

The Sudanese government and the SPLM-N led by Malik Agar signed a framework peace agreement in Juba on Friday, ahead of comprehensive peace agreement with armed groups before mid-February.

The purpose of the framework agreement with Agar group which is part of the Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF) is to end the nearly 9-year armed conflict in the Blue Nile and South Kordofan states.

Iraq: Turkey bombs Sinjar Resistance Units (YBS) Yazidi militia in Iraq affiliated with PKK

Turkey is continuing its push into Kurdish areas of Iraq, now targeting Sinjar, which will be key to controlling the Syrian-Iraqi-Turkish border triangle.

The Turkish air force targeted the Sinjar Resistance Units (YBS), a Yazidi militia, Jan. 15 in Iraq’s Ninevah province.

Syria: Rebels launched a major attack on Syrian forces in Idlib

Syrian state media said militants launched a major attack on government forces in Idlib on Thursday that Russia’s defense ministry said killed up to 40 Syrian soldiers, though the account was disputed by a rebel official and war monitor.

Idlib is the last rebel-held swathe of territory in the country and hundreds of thousands of people in the area have fled in recent weeks amid heavy air strikes by Russian and Syrian forces.

Burkina Faso: Terrorist attack kill 36 civilians in north of the country

Terrorists killed 36 civilians on Monday when they attacked villages in northern Burkina Faso.

The militants killed 32 civilians when they attacked and burnt the market in Nagraogo village before killing four more people in Alamou village, the government said on Tuesday.

Nigeria: Many killed in fighting between Boko Haram jihadists and from Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP)

Intense gunfire between two rival jihadist groups in northeast Nigeria has left several fighters dead, two sources with close knowledge of the incident.

Fighters in pickup trucks from a Boko Haram faction loyal to Abubakar Shekau stormed a camp belonging to rival IS-aligned Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), resulting in a fierce gunbattle that caused several fatalities, sources told AFP.
