Armed opposition group, Patriotic Ginbot7 (PG7) announced that it has unilaterally suspended all operations using firearms to show its support for the ongoing political changes undertaken by a reformist group within the ruling party, spearheaded by the new Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
For the past many years, the Ethiopian people have engaged in a painstaking struggle to extricate themselves from brutal repression and to transition to a democratic order.

At least 45 Afghan security forces and 16 militants have been killed after Taleban militants attacked security checkpoints in two Afghanistan provinces, authorities said on Wednesday.
In one attack, 30 Afghan Army soldiers and 16 Taleban militants were killed overnight after militants stormed two security checkpoints in Badghis province, provincial governor Abdul Qhafoor Malikzai told Xinhua news agency.

Israeli jets have attacked 25 targets linked to Hamas in the Gaza Strip, after the group launched rockets and mortar shells at Israeli territory, the military said.
Three Palestinians were lightly injured during the attacks in the early hours of Wednesday, residents said. The exchange was one of the most intense recent barrages of rocket fire and air strikes.

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a small offensive in the northeastern countryside of the Daraa Governorate tonight.
Backed by heavy artillery and missiles, the Taha Group of the Tiger Forces made their second attempt to capture the Air Defense Base that is located near the strategic town of Busra Al-Harir.

Renewed clashes between government forces and Daesh-inspired terrorists displaced hundreds of residents in several villages in Lanao del Sur as the army pressed on with its operations to root out militants.
Col. Romeo Brawner, spokesperson of the Task Force Ranao, said pursuit operations continue against combatants of a radical faction of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and remnants of the clan-based Maute group.
