Yemen: 25 Houthi rebels killed in intense fighting with army in al-Jawf

Yemeni military sources said on Friday that around 25 Houthis have been killed in intense fighting between Yemeni national army and the Houthi militias in al-Maslub district west of al-Jawf governorate.

The source said that the Houthi militants were killed in different areas of the district when the national army advanced in the governorate.

Jordan: Army clashes with Islamic State (IS) militants fleeing Syrian forces

The Jordanian army said on Thursday it killed several Islamic State militants who approached its border as they fled a Syrian offensive that drove them out of their enclave in the southwest of the war-torn country.

Army units had used “all types of weapons” to shell a group of militants who had come close to its side of the Yarmouk Valley in clashes that lasted nearly twenty-fours from Tuesday to Wednesday afternoon, an army source said.

Syria: Army retakes more towns in southwest

Syrian army troops have liberated more towns in southwestern Syria from the foreign-backed Takfiri militants.

Syria’s official news agency SANA reported that the government forces raised the Syrian flag in the town of Jubata al-Khashab, Quneitra province, on Wednesday, a day after militants were evacuated under a deal with Damascus. Jubata al-Khashab was a stronghold of militants.

Philippines: Clashes show New People’s Army (NPA) rejects localized peace talks

Clashes between government soldiers and communist rebels continued in the provinces of Batangas and Quezon amid a shift in counterinsurgency tactics by the Duterte administration to luring New People’s Army (NPA) units to what officials called “localized peace talks.”

Soldiers combed parts of Batangas and Quezon to hunt down NPA members operating in Southern Luzon and believed to be involved in a series of clashes with government troops.

Syria: Syrian government retakes frontier with Israel on Golan Heights

The Syrian government regained control of the frontier with the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights for the first time in seven years on Monday, after Islamic State-linked militants gave up their last pocket of territory in the area.

The breakthrough against the militants, reported by state media and an opposition-linked war monitoring group, capped a six-week-long campaign to retake the southwest corner of the country.
