Syrian state media and a war monitor say airstrikes by the U.S.-led coalition on a town held by the Islamic State group have killed and wounded dozens.
State news agency SANA said the airstrikes on Sousa Thursday and Friday left several people dead or wounded.

Yemeni pro-government forces killed at least 70 fighters affiliated with the Iran-backed Houthi rebels on Wednesday after they launched a large-scale offensive to reopen a supply route between the capital Sanaa and the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah.
The target of the offensive was Kilo 16, east of Hodeidah, which links the two cities. The rebels lost the key transport link in September when Al Amalikah forces, part of a pro-government brigade, recaptured it as they pushed towards Hodeidah.

Israeli fighter jets attacked targets in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, the military said, hours after a rocket fired overnight by militants in the territory struck a house in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba, a sharp escalation after months of simmering tensions along the Israel-Gaza border.
The residents of the house — a woman and her three young children — were treated for shock, according to the Israeli emergency services, and the Israeli military said a second rocket fell into the sea after it was fired overnight toward the crowded coastal area of central Israel.

The US military said Tuesday that an October 12 US “precision airstrike” near Harardhere, Somalia killed some 60 al Qaeda-affiliated fighters.
“We currently assess this airstrike killed approximately 60 terrorists,” US Africa Command which oversees US military operations on the continent said in a statement.

A major border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan remained closed on October 15 following clashes between the two countries’ security forces, leaving hundreds of people and vehicles stranded on both sides.
The Chamman-Spin Boldak border crossing was shut on October 14 after an exchange of fire between Pakistani and Afghan forces that lasted for several hours, officials in both countries said.
