Ukraine’s Defense Forces have struck Russia’s provisional command post in the Kherson region.
This is reported by Ukrinform, referring to a source in the Security Service of Ukraine.
The armed forces of the breakaway Republic of Artsakh, established in Nagorno-Karabakh with the support of the Armenian government, have started transferring their weapons and military equipment to the Azerbaijani army, as stipulated by the cease-fire agreement reached by Baku and Yerevan on September 20.
On September 19, Baku launched a massive strike on Nagorno-Karabakh, an enclave of Azerbaijan predominantly populated by ethnic Armenians, using artillery and combat drones but describing the attack as a “local anti-terrorist operation.”
Azerbaijan has launched “anti-terror” operations in Nagorno-Karabakh, and said it will not stop until ethnic-Armenian separatists surrender.
Tensions in the South Caucasus have been high for months around the breakaway enclave, recognised internationally as part of Azerbaijan.
Mali’s military and Tuareg rebels said there had been deadly clashes on Tuesday in the northern town of Bourem, in a further sign of the unravelling of a 2015 peace deal.
The rebel alliance, called the Coordination of Azawad Movements (CMA), has been fighting the army since August, a conflict unleashed in part by the departure of a United Nations peacekeeping mission that for years had helped maintain a fragile calm.
Relations with France, Niger’s former colonial power, degraded after Paris stood by ousted president Mohamed Bazoum following the July coup.
“France continues to deploy its forces in several ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) countries as part of preparations for an aggression against Niger, which it is planning in collaboration with this community organisation,” Niger’s regime spokesman Colonel Major Amadou Abdramane said on Saturday.
