Somalia: Fighting between Raskamboni militia and al-Shabaab in Gedo and Lower Juba regions
Reports from Kismayu, the capital of the lower Juba region confirm that a heavy engagement between the Raskamboni militia and members of al-Shabaab occurred at via Afmadow suburbs in Kismayu.
The fighting that took hours of heavy engagement started when al-Shabaab fighters launched attacks on a base owned by the militia group.
It is reported that the two groups fired heavy artilleries on each other which caused serious damages on buildings. The engagement claimed lives and dozens are reported injured.
Both sides have not released any statements about last night’s fighting.
