Nigeria: Nigerian Air Force repels Boko Haram attack at Gashigar

The Nigerian Air Force, working in concert with the Nigerien Air Force provided support for Nigerian ground forces at the weekend and thwarted a Boko Haram Terrorist (BHT) attack at Gashigar in Borno.

Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, in a statement on Sunday said the operation was carried out on Saturday.

Yemen: Clashes widen between Houthi factions in Saada

Tension and armed confrontations widened between the militias of Abdul Malik al-Houthi and his uncle, Abdul Azim al-Houthi, a Zaidi cleric in several areas in the governorates of Saada, Hajjah, Amran and Sanaa with both rallying their bases in many regions of Saada.

Tribal sources in Saada confirmed that Abdul Malik al-Houthi militias are still holding dozens of wounded followers of Abdul Azim al-Houthi who were kidnapped from hospitals.

Somalia: Somali states to form a joint force to fight al-Shabaab

Federal Member States in Somalia have announced the creation of a new force to fight the activities of al-Shabaab in the country.

According to a communiqué released on Thursday, Somalia’s Council of Interstate Cooperation has agreed to draw 1,000 soldiers from each Federal Member State, to “integrate and train them together for smooth, seamless and unified offensive against terrorists”.

Ethiopia: Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) and Ethiopian government agree to end conflict

In a meeting that took place on the 21stof October, members of the ONLF and the Ethiopian government (EPRDF) agreed to put an end to existing animosity after one of the longest running conflicts in Africa.

The two bodies agreed to respect one another, acknowledging the rights granted by the Ethiopian Constitution to all parties.
