Intense clashes broke out between Yemen’s government forces and the Houthi rebels in the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah on Wednesday night despite the cease-fire brokered by the United Nations, an army commander told Xinhua.
The army’s commander based in the Hodeidah said on anonymity that intense armed confrontations erupted between pro-government Giants Brigades and the Houthi rebels using heavily weapons in the city’s eastern parts.

Pakistan has warned it will retaliate if India takes military action against it after a militant attack on Indian forces in Indian-administered Kashmir.
Prime Minister Imran Khan went on television to call on India to provide evidence to support its claims that Pakistan was involved.

A gunbattle with militants in disputed Kashmir has left four Indian troops dead. It comes just days after the worst attack on government forces in the region’s history, to which India promised a “jaw-dropping” response.
At least four Indian soldiers were killed in a shootout with rebels in India-administered Kashmir on Monday.

Seven Niger soldiers were killed when their post was attacked by Boko Haram in the country’s southeast near Nigeria, the birthplace of the jihadist group, the government said Saturday.
The interior ministry said Friday’s raid in Chetima Wanou had led to the death of seven soldiers and injured six others while “on the enemy side (there were) several deaths including one corpse left on the spot and many injured”.

Extremists defending the very last pocket controlled by ISIS in eastern Syria are trapped in an area of half a square kilometer, a top commander said Saturday.
“We want to confirm that Baghouz is within firing range and is besieged,” Jia Furat, the overall commander of the operation led by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, told reporters.
