Officials and witnesses say at least 13 people were killed in heavy clashes between armed groups fighting for control of villages in central Somalia.
The fighting erupted when a government-allied militia attacked Wardhumale village Saturday. The clashes continued Sunday.
Wardhumale resident Abdi Fatah Ali said Sunday he saw ten bodies in the village.
A man in neighboring Elgod village, Abdulkadir, said he saw three bodies.
The residents said the Islamist militia al-Shabaab abandoned Wardhumale village, leaving the government-allied Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jama militia in charge.

The Madagascar government on Friday ordered civilians to evacuate areas in and around a military camp in the Antananarivo suburbs where a group of mutinous troops are holed up.
“We ask families living in the Ivato camp and residents of the surrounding area to temporarily leave the area for a safer place,” the Defence Ministry said in a statement broadcast on national radio and television.
Around 20 officers who declared a coup Wednesday but failed to win support from the rest of the military are believed to be inside the camp around 15 kilometres (nine miles) from the city centre near the international airport.
A curious crowd was seen near the army barracks where the troops were holed up just before the defence ministry issued the statement Friday.

A group of officers claiming to have taken control of Madagascar’s government seem to have been isolated at their military barracks at the Antananarivo airport. Calm has returned to the Malagasy capital.
The coup was announced earlier today by Colonel Charles Andrianasoavina, who together with General Noël Rakotonandrasana and another 20 army officers made a statement to the press saying a “military council for the welfare of the people” had taken control of Madagascar.
Colonel Andrianasoavina said the transitional government, ruling Madagascar since the March 2009 coup of Anry Rajoelina, was now suspended. The putschists promised to “restore democracy” and seek “national reconciliation.”

Attacks in two different Afghan provinces - Nangarhar in the east and Kunduz in the north - have left several people dead, including many of the assailants.
In Saturday’s first attack, a pre-dawn Taliban raid was thwarted by soldiers at a US military facility - Forward Operating Base Fenty - that is part of the Jalalabad airfield.
An Isaf statement said that no Afghan National Army (ANA) troops or Isaf soldiers were killed in the incident.
Eight attackers were killed, many of whom had been wearing ANA uniforms, Ahmad Zia Abdulzoi, a Nangarhar government spokesman, said.
Zabiullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, said there were 14 attackers and that 11 of them were killed, but the claim could not be independently corroborated.
