Clashes between Ukrainian forces and separatist rebels in eastern Ukraine have escalated, the worst outbreak of fighting so far this year, officials said Monday.
The headquarters for the Ukrainian operations in the east said two soldiers were killed and another four were wounded in fighting near the village of Yuzhnoye early Monday.
Israeli tanks in Syria’s Golan Heights on Saturday shelled Hezbollah positions in southern Syria, according to local sources.
The shelling targeted the village of Tulul al-Humur, south of Quneitra, the sources said.
Puntland cabinet has held an emergency session on Saturday at the state-house over the situation in Sool region and the latest clashes in the town of Tukaraq, Garowe Online reports.

A statement by Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, spokesman of the counter-insurgency operation in the country’s troubled northeast, said a joint operation of Nigerian and Cameroonian forces in the southern Lake Chad Basin region on Wednesday engaged Boko Haram militants in fierce battle at various locations. The troops also recovered an arms cache, he said.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) attack comes as retaliation for strikes targeting the military, according to the army’s spokesman.
No casualties have been reported after the Israeli military responded to recent attacks targeting its positions with retaliatory tank fire at a Hamas outpost in the northern Gaza Strip, the IDF spokesperson’s unit reported.
