Somalia: 15 killed in Mogadishu after car bomb explosion, no claim

A car bomb exploded near a hotel and restaurants in Mogadishu on Thursday, killing at least 15 people in a busy area of the Somali capital targeted by Islamist militants before, rescue services said.

The afternoon explosion sent smoke billowing into the sky and destroyed two restaurants and some cars parked in the area.

Afghanistan: 36 Taliban militants killed and wounded in Helmand and Paktika military operations

At least 36 Taliban militants were killed or wounded during the operations of the Afghan Special Forces and airstrike which were conducted in Helmand and Paktika provinces in past 24 hours.

According to informed military sources, the Afghan Special Forces conducted a ground assault in Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand province in the past 24 hours killing 30 Taliban fighters and wounding 4 others.

Yemen: Elite troops supported by United Arab Emirates forces launch a military operation to track down al-Qaeda militants

Elite troops supported by Emirati forces have begun a campaign to track down al-Qaeda militants in mountain hideouts in the Shabwa province of southern Yemen.

The campaign, called White Mountains, complements a mission in which troops were sent to the three Shabwa districts of Nesab, Markha and Khourah in April 2018.

About four hours after the Israeli bombardment began, at least 10 rockets were fired from Gaza towards Israel.

Mali: Over 100 killed in inter-tribal clashes between Fulani e Dogon

More than 100 people were killed by armed men in an attack on a Fulani village in central Mali on Saturday, local officials said, as top UN officials visited the country.

Local authorities blamed the violence on Dogon hunters who are part of the Bambara, Mali’s largest ethnic group.
