The Arakan Army (AA) ambushed a military convoy traveling in an area under the control of the Myanmar military’s Western Command in southern Rakhine State’s Ann Township on Sunday, injuring one soldier.
Office of the Commander-in-Chief spokesman Brigadier General Zaw Min Tun confirmed that one soldier was wounded when Myanmar Army troops were attacked with remotely detonated landmines in Ann Township. He said the rebels detonated two landmines under a military convoy and retreated when soldiers fought back against them during the clash, which took place in a rural area of the township.

At least 13 Taliban militants were killed after clashes erupted between police and militants in Afghanistan’s southern province of Kandahar on Saturday, Ministry of Interior Affairs said Sunday.
“Afghan National Police came in contact with militants in Nadir Khan village, Maruf district, Kandahar province; the clashes left 13 militants dead and nine others wounded,” the ministry said in a statement.

Three gunmen have stormed a five-star hotel in the restive Pakistani province of Balochistan, killing at least one person, officials say.
The attack targeted the Zaver Pearl-Continental Hotel in the strategic port city of Gwadar, the centrepiece of a multi-billion-dollar Chinese project.

A U.S. air strike killed 13 Islamic State fighters in Somalia’s semi-autonomous Puntland region on Wednesday, the U.S. military said, days after another strike killed three.
The U.S. military has stepped up its campaign of air strikes in Somalia since President Donald Trump took office, saying it has killed more than 800 militants in two years.

Syrian government troops captured a northwestern village known for its medieval fortress on Thursday as they move deeper toward Idlib province, the last major rebel stronghold, activists and pro-government media said.
The latest wave of fighting that began last week is the most serious challenge yet to a cease-fire in the region, brokered by Russia and Turkey in September.
