Twelve policemen were killed in the Taliban overnight attack in Lashkargah, the capital of southern Helmand province, an official said on Tuesday.
Deputy Police Chief Haji Guli Khani told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban attacked a police check-post in the Sra Gudar locality situated in the limits of second police district.
Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry reported armed clashes in the Karabakh conflict area and Azerbaijan’s losses.
“During the night from the 24th to the 25th of February, units of the Armenian Armed Forces attempted an attack on Azerbaijan’s positions at various parts of the front line,” the defense ministry said. “Losses have been reported during the armed clash.”
Taliban suicide attackers have struck a courthouse in northwestern Pakistan, killing at least five people and injuring as many as 15.
The February 21 incident occurred at a region court in the town of Tangi, near the city of Peshawar.
Two members of Burma (Myanmar)’s security forces were injured in a clash with militants on the troubled Rakhine State border with Bangladesh, Burma’s state counselor’s office said, casting doubt on the government’s claim that the region had stabilised.
The government last week said the situation in northern Rakhine had stabilised and that it had ended a four-month security crackdown on Rohingya Muslims.
At least 17 soldiers of the Afghanistan National Army (ANA) were reportedly been killed late on Thursday night in the country’s eastern Nangarhar province.
Media reports in Kabul quoted Ahmad Ali Hazrat, chief of Nangarhar provincial council, as saying that the Islamic State (IS) group was behind the attack on the security posts located in the Dih Bala district.
