At least 31 Taliban militants were killed in a military operation carried out by security forces in southern Helmand province in past 24 hours, local officials said on Sunday.
Nine other insurgents were wounded in the operation, the officials added.

Burma-Myanmar: Thousands flee Laukkai clashes between army and the Northern Alliance rebels
Thousands of people including locals and migrant workers have fled clashes between the Burma Army and the Northern Alliance in Laukkai, the administrative capital of the ethnic Kokang region of Shan State.
People have been fleeing the area since renewed clashes broke out on March 6. More than 20,000 have reportedly fled to border camps in China, and more than 2,000 arrived in Mandalay on Thursday after taking shelter in Man Su Monastery in Lashio, according to U Pinna Nanda, the abbot of the monastery.

Afghanistan: Gunmen disguised as doctors attack military hospital in Kabul, ISIS claims responsibility
Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for an attack on a military hospital in the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Wednesday in which gunmen dressed as doctors slipped into the facility and battled security forces inside the building for several hours.
The attack began when a suicide bomber blew himself up at the rear of the 400-bed Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan hospital and three attackers with automatic weapons and hand grenades entered the complex, security officials said. The gunmen, dressed as medical personnel, had taken position on upper floors of the hospital and engaged special forces sent to the scene, officials said.

Burma-Myanmar: Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) Kokang rebels attack Laukkai hotel
Five police and five civilians were killed in an attack by members of the ethnic Kokang Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) in Laukkai — the administrative capital of the ethnic Kokang region of Shan State — according to a report issued from Burma’s State Counselor’s Office.
The State Counselor Office Information Committee reported that the MNDAA attacked a hotel in the town near the Chinese border early on Monday morning, burning four cars near the hotel site.

Burma-Myanmar: 160 killed in clashes with 4 ethnic rebel groups in Shan State
Clashes with ethnic rebels in Myanmar’s southeastern Shan State have killed more than 160 people including 74 soldiers, according to the military Tuesday.
Fighting had intensified in the mountainous area along the Myanmar-China border since an alliance of four ethnic rebel groups launched a joint offensive in November last year.
On Tuesday, the military released a statement saying 74 soldiers, 15 police, 13 local militias and 13 civilians have died during months-long conflicts in restive Shan.
