Venezuela’s crisis is spilling across the border into Colombia as Marxist rebels and right-wing paramilitaries recruit migrants to strengthen their ranks, according to five Colombian military commanders.
Violence still simmers in Colombia despite a 2016 peace deal with leftist FARC rebels, meant to end five decades of conflict. Dissident FARC fighters, the rebel National Liberation Army (ELN), right-wing paramilitaries and drug-trafficking gangs are battling each other and the military.

Five Taliban terrorists were killed in an operation by Afghan Special Forces in the country’s northern province of Faryab, the provincial government said on Friday.
The anti-terrorist operation was carried out in the Dara-e-Shakh area of Gurziwan district in the wee hours of Friday. Two Taliban hideouts were destroyed, reported Xinhua.

Eighteen members of the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara were killed in a joint operation by US, French and Niger troops near Niger’s border with Mali, the defence ministry said Tuesday.
The June 8-18 operation took place in the northern border region of Tongo Tongo “targeting a gang of ISGS terrorists implicated in an ambush on May 14,” in which 28 Nigerien soldiers were killed, it said.

At least 12 people were wounded in clashes between Yemen’s coast guards and “separatist militias” backed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), when the latter tried to land in the Yemeni Socotra Island in an attempt to take over the seaport, the Yemeni local authority in Socotra and officials said on Wednesday.
The clashes erupted on Tuesday afternoon following the arrival of a UAE-flagged vessel at the island’s main seaport.

Indian troops fought a gun battle with Kashmir rebels Tuesday after a car bomb attack and other clashes left four soldiers and three militants dead in 24 hours, military officials said.
A soldier and two suspected rebels were killed in the latest shootout in the Anantnag area of India-administered Kashmir, army spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said in a statement.
