Democratic Republic of the Congo: Democratic Republic of the Congo has given 48 hours to Burundi military to leave the country

President Felix Tshisekedi has ordered his Burundian counterpart to immediately remove his soldiers on DRC territory within 48 hours. The ultimatum issued on Friday expires today, May 2.

Sources close to the Presidency in DR Congo confirmed that President Tshisekedi communicated to President Pierre Nkurunziza, but did not specify whether it was by telephone or other channels

Central African Republic: 25 people killed in clashes between members of the Popular Front for the Rebirth of the Central African Republic (FPRC) factions in Ndele

At least 25 people have been killed and 51 others wounded in clashes in the northeast of the Central African Republic, according to the country’s communications minister.

Fighting between armed groups in Ndele led to the deaths of 21 civilians, Ange-Maxime Kazigui said on Thursday, adding that “the situation remains confused.”

Syria: Islamic State (IS) terrorist group and Assad regime forces clash in Deir ez-Zor region

Clashes have been reported between Daesh/ISIS terrorist group and the Syrian regime supported by Iran-backed groups in oil-rich Deir ez-Zor region, according to local sources.

The regime elements stationed in the region targeted the positions of Daesh/ISIS with artillery in the Mayadin district, west of Deir ez-Zor.

Afghanistan: Suicide bomber kills 3 people and injures 15 in Kabul

A suicide bomber killed at least three people and wounded 15 others after detonating explosives near a military outpost in Kabul on Wednesday, an official confirmed, in the first attack to rock the Afghan capital in weeks.

Interior ministry spokesman Tareq Arian confirmed the death count, calling the blast “a crime by the enemy of Afghanistan against civilians during the month of Ramadan”.

Libya: Khalifa Haftar unilaterally declares himself ruler of Libya

Warlord Khalifa Haftar on Monday unilaterally declared himself the ruler of Libya.

In a video message, Haftar pointed to street demonstrations in areas under his control, and claimed he “accepted the mandate of the Libyan people” to govern the country.
