Two Saudi soldiers were killed near the Kingdom’s border with Yemen, local media reported Tuesday.
Saudi Arabia’s official SPA news agency said the soldiers were killed while on duty in the Najran region in the south of the country.
At least 9,500 people have fled their homes in Ain Issa, northeast Syria, following an escalation in clashes between the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (TSNA) and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in mid-December.
The SDF – the military forces of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), also known as Rojava – who control Ain Issa, report daily shelling on the city from Turkish-backed forces for the past week. The sound of fighting could be heard from sunset until noon.
Clashes between Kurdish fighters and Turkey-backed opposition gunmen in northern Syria left at least 11 fighters dead in some of the most intense fighting in weeks between the two sides, an opposition war monitor and a Kurdish spokesman said Tuesday.
Exchange of fire and shelling between the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces and Turkey-backed opposition gunmen who identify as the Syrian National Army have not been uncommon since Turkish troops invaded parts of northern Syria in October of last year.
Forces loyal to Yemen’s government and other military units of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Wednesday completed redeployment plans in the country’s southern part under Saudi Arabia-led coalition’s supervision.
Local military officials said that “the process of redeployment warring troops was completed successfully under the auspices of observers of the Saudi Arabia-led coalition.”
For the fourth day in a row, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) have been involved in a fierce battle in central Syria, which has prompted the participation of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
According to a field report from the Homs Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army has been trying to thwart the Islamic State attacks in the Badiya Al-Sham and eastern Hama regions, which have resulted in the death of several soldiers.
