Heavy fighting between the Burma Army and an ethnic Karen rebel group broke out in Kawkareik and Hlaingbwe townships in Karen State on Friday, forcing dozens of villagers to flee their homes.
The fighting between government soldiers and the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (DKBA) also forced the closure of a road linking Burma’s commercial capital Rangoon to the border town of Myawaddy.

India: Indian and Pakistani troops clash over Kashmir border
Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged heavy gunfire overnight Tuesday, after days of fighting that has left at least 17 civilians dead and dozens wounded on both sides of the Kashmiri frontier.
Each country blames the other for violating a longstanding cease-fire, and neither has begun a meeting of commanders at the border, the traditional mechanism for de-escalating such standoffs.

Burma-Myanmar: 17 Government soldiers killed in heavy clashes against a combined force of Palaung, Kachin and Kokang ethnic rebels in Shan State

Heavy clashes between the Burma Army and a combined force of Palaung, Kachin and Kokang ethnic rebels in northern Shan State’s Kutkhai Township killed 17 government soldiers on Wednesday, a Palaung rebel source has claimed.
Tar Ban Hla, a spokesperson of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), told The Irrawaddy that the Burma Army’s Infantry Division 11 made an incursion into TNLA area, prompting a response by fighters of the TNLA, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), a small Kokang militia.

Afghanistan: Taliban launch coordinated attack on government compound in Paktia district
A group of suicide bombers and militants launched coordinated attack on government compound in Zurmat district of Paktia province on Monday.
According to local government officials, at least 16 people including the militants were killed and over 10 others were injured following the attack.
