At least seven people, including the head of the Afghan National Directorate of Security (NDS) for Sancharak district of northern Sar-e-pul region, were killed during a Taliban ambush, TOLO news reported Monday, citing sources in local authorities.
The incident occurred early in the day, when the the head of the NDS for Sancharak was returning home from funerals.
“NDS head of Sancharak and an employee of the department, four soldiers and a child were killed,” security official Enayatullah Habibi said as quoted by TOLO news.
Taliban itself has not claimed the responsibility for the attack.
This assault follows a Sunday attack on a court building in eastern Afghanistan, which claimed the lives of seven people, including the head of the appeal’s court, and left 23 injured.
