Egypt: Egyptian security forces kill 25 militants during operation in Sinai Peninsula

Egyptian security forces on Sunday said they killed at least 25 militants in the Sinai Peninsula, one day after gunmen killed a conservative parliamentary candidate living in the region.

Egypt’s state-run MENA news agency said the casualties were a result of the past two days of the so-called Martyr’s Right, a joint police and military operation launched in the peninsula in September.

Somalia: Kenya Defence Forces troops kill 15 Al-Shabaab militants, destroyed operations base

KDF troops have killed 15 al-Shabaab terrorists in an attack on an operation base used by the militants across River Jubba in Yantooy, Somalia.

During the Sunday morning operation, two boats used by the militants to cross River Jubba were also destroyed.

Syria: Army kills leader of Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group

The Syrian army killed the leader of Jabhat al-Nusra (Nusra Front) terrorist group, Egypt-born Abu Suleiman al-Masri in Aleppo, a source confirmed to Sputnik Saturday.

According to the source, the terrorist was killed during a fight near the Tal-al-Karsani village outside Aleppo.

South Sudan: Government forces killed at least 80 civilians and burned down houses in Unity State

South Sudanese government troops have been accused by humanitarian organizations of killing more than 80 civilians and burned down houses this month in Leer County of the oil-rich Unity State.

Protection Cluster, the umbrella agency for 60 South Sudanese and international organizations, said 57 of those killed were children; adding 29 of the 57 children drowned after they hide themselves from government attacks.

Syria: Syrian army battles to retake Aleppo supply line from Islamic State (IS)

Syrian troops backed by Russian air strikes battled Islamic State group fighters on Saturday in a bid to restore a key supply line to second city Aleppo, a monitoring group said.

At least 28 IS fighters and 21 troops and militia have been killed in the battle for the road that leads to the government-held sector of Aleppo city, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
