Spokesperson for Mehsud Taliban group, Azam Tariq, has announced that his group is severing ties with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) this Wednesday May 28, 2014. Azam claimed that individual ideologies had created a rift among various Taliban groups and there was a deviation from the real cause.

Azam Tariq accused the existing Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan leadership was involved in attacking public places with bombs using bogus names. He claimed that money was being extorted from madrassahs and other institutions which was not acceptable.

The spokesperson said that efforts were made to reform Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, however, those were without any success.

Azam Tariq announced their leader of the group. He said, “We announce our defection from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, we have chosen Khalid Mehsud as the new leader for South Waziristan.” Khalid Mehsud is previously known as Khan Said alias Sajna.
