Crimea, Transnistria, Ukraine and Russia

The situation in Crimea is already known to all of us, but there is a but…..do you know what is and where is Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic or more famous like Transnistria ? Who doesn’t know it, it is a little piece of territory that during the end of USSR split with a blitzkrieg from Moldova (or Moldavia) thanks to a presence of russian army present there, declaring indipendence. Now Transnisnistra has its own little army built and overall “supervised” from the presence of russian soldiers (in peace-keeping mission), it uses ruble like currency and overall it is one of biggest supermarket for the sale of weapons. All this is granted by Moscow. At this point, you can see the map below:

transnistria.gif

it’s possible to show that Transnistria borders at west with Moldova, at east with Ucraine and just little more far with Crimea. If Russia with its own army and with the approval of crimean pro-russian population has occupied Crimea, without that Ucraine, european nations and USA could do any in military terms, in a next future who and what could stop annexion of Transnistria (allowing it to enter territorially in the Russian Federation) through another ukrainian corridor ? A crazy idea ? Until 3 weeks ago it was a crazy idea on which we have just seen in Crimea.
