India: 20 naxalites rebels killed in clashes with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Chhattisgarh

In a major crackdown by CRPF, at least 20 Naxalites, including a woman, were killed in a fierce overnight encounter in the dense jungles of Dantewada in Chhattisgarh that left six jawans wounded.

The encounter, which took place in the forests of Silger, an uncharted Maoist zone between the Naxalite hotbed of Jagargunda and Basaguda in Bijapur district of Bastar region, was launched on Thursday night in a joint operation by over 300 CRPF and state police personnel from three directions.

Afghanistan: Insurgents attacks kill 10 policemen

Insurgent attacks in several parts of Afghanistan have killed 10 police officers over 24 hours, officials said on Wednesday.

Warming weather in the summer usually brings an uptick in insurgent activity, but the surge this year is more than expected.

Pakistan: 10 soldiers killed in cross-border attack in Dir district

Afghan terrorists on Sunday attacked a military convoy in Upper Dir, resulting in the killing of at least 21 people, including terrorists and soldiers.

According to reports, Afghan militants attacked a military convoy in Upper Dir, a district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing at least 10 military personnel, while several others were left missing. The sources further said that the security forces retaliated to attack and killed 11 terrorists.

Burma-Myanmar: Burma army and Kachin Independence Army (KIA) battle in five different places in Shan state

Fighting between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and Burma’s armed forces broke out today in at least five different places in northern Shan state after two Burmese army columns were sent to the area as reinforcements, local residents told the Kachin News Group (KNG).

Both sides suffered casualties from skirmishes near two towns - Pangsai (also Kyukok) and Mongkoe (also Munggu), situated along the Muse to Kutkai road route.

Burma-Myanmar: Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP) signs ceasefire with government

After nearly six decades of conflict, the Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP) signed a ceasefire agreement on June 9-10 with a Burmese government delegation after talks in Karenni state capital Loikaw.

The agreement leaves the Kachin Independence Organization as the only ethnic armed group still fighting Burma’s government forces.

Aung San Myint, the general secretary no. 2 of KNPP, told The Irrawaddy on Monday that 17 of the 20 points on the agenda were agreed upon, with the outstanding three points shelved for discussion at the next meeting.
