Burma-Myanmar: 23 Kachin cadets of Kachin Independence Army (KIA) killed and 13 injured in artillery attack by army
Twenty-three cadets from the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) were killed and 13 injured when an officers’ training camp near Laiza was hit directly by an artillery shell on Wednesday.
La Nan, spokesperson for the KIA, said the training camp in Wei Kyaing Bum was hit by a 105mm shell fired from Burmese government forces’ positions on nearby Hkaya Bum Hill at around noon on 19 November.

Burma-Myanmar: Kachin Independence Army (KIA) clashed with Burma Army in Kachin state
Troops from the Kachin Independence Organization’s (KIO) armed wing clashed with Burma army forces on November 16th in eastern Kachin state, according to an officer with group.
The officer from the Kachin Independence Army’s (KIA) Battalion 12 said that the fighting, which lasted more than an hour, took place at Hka Shang village near Jan Chyai Hkret in Mansi, also called Manje township. The area has long been held by KIA Battalion 27 (KIA 3rd Brigade). The clashes erupted when Burma army soldiers from brigade 88 entered into KIA territory, the office said.

Syria: Southern Front moderate Syrian rebels say they are advancing on Damascus from south
Rebel groups based in southern Syria are advancing on the western suburbs of Damascus and warning they might soon enter the capital, a development that’s in sharp contrast to the grim reports from northern Syria, where moderate rebels have suffered setbacks from the government and radical Islamists.
The advance by the so-called Southern Front also stands apart from the situation in the north because moderate rebels still appear to be the dominant opposition force in the south, eclipsing al Qaida’s Syrian affiliate, the Nusra Front, in planning and executing military advances.

Philippines: 4 New People’s Army (NPA) rebels killed in an encounter with soldiers
Soldiers shot dead four communist rebels and arrested another in an encounter Thursday in a hinterland in Senator Ninoy Aquino town in the province.
A soldier who was slightly wounded in the ensuing encounter is now recuperating at a hospital.
