Iraq: Iraq forces launch new operations to retake another town

Iraqi armed forces have launched fresh anti-ISIL operations to liberate another strategic area after they managed to recapture the town of Jurf al-Sakhar near the capital, Baghdad, Press TV reports.

Following the liberation of Jurf al-Sakhar, Iraqi government troops and volunteer forces have engaged in fresh clashes with the ISIL Takfiri militants to retake control of the town of Amriyat al-Fallujah, situated in the western province of Anbar.

Syria: Al-Nusra Front and rebel units launch major assault on Idlib

Syrian rebels, led by Al-Qaeda loyalists. launched a major assault on the government-held city of Idlib on Monday in a bid to consolidate their control over the northwest, a monitoring group told AFP.

Rebels seized control of most of Idlib province early in the three and a half year old civil war but troops have held out in the provincial capital, resupplied by air.

Egypt: Air raids on northern Sinai killed 15 terrorists

Egyptian Apache helicopters bombed terror bases in northern Sinai, killing ‘’15 jihadists'’ and destroying an arms depot, security sources told ANSA on Monday.

Helicopters carrying troops also arrived overnight.

Yemen: Houthis fighters enter main al-Qaeda stronghold in central Yemen

Houthi fighters backed by Yemeni government forces entered an al-Qaeda stronghold in central Yemen on Sunday, local tribesmen said, one day after Sunni Islamist fighters pushed their Shi’ite rivals back.

The Houthis moved into al-Manasseh area in al-Bayda province under cover from Katyusha rocket fire from the Yemeni army and presidential guard. Tribal sources said the Ansar al-Sharia fighters withdrew to another district called Bakla, some 3 km (two miles) away.

Lebanon: Army pounds militant hideouts linked to ISIS in north Lebanon

Lebanese Army helicopter gunships blasted militant hideouts in north Lebanon Sunday as fighting between the military and jihadists in the city’s old souks intensified sharply overnight.

The death toll from three days of fighting between Lebanese troops and ISIS-inspired militants rose to 18 as the military cracked down on jihadists plotting attacks in Tripoli and the northern district of Minyeh.
