The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), allied with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has claimed advances in Sudan’s southeastern Blue Nile State, while the Sudanese army says it repelled an attack by the coalition near the Ethiopian border.
According to Sudan Tribune, the SPLM-N said on Sunday that allied forces captured Al-Kadalou, a strategic border area in Roseires locality near Ethiopia, after clashes with government forces. The group claimed it seized eight positions, captured 20 military vehicles and took several soldiers prisoner, saying its forces planned to advance toward the state capital, Ed Damazin.
The claims could not be independently verified.
The Sudanese army, meanwhile, said it had repelled an attempted RSF-SPLM-N advance in the Minza and Bashkarkat areas of eastern Blue Nile. The army’s 4th Infantry Division said its forces inflicted casualties, destroyed vehicles and equipment, and forced the attackers to withdraw under artillery and gunfire.
