In the world exist many localities or cities with the same name, also inside the same nation, and exist also 2 States with the same name (Georgi in United States of America and Georgia whose borders are with Russia and Turkey). I don’t see the reason why couldn’t be the same thing in regards to Macedonia’s State in ex Yugoslavia.
By proclamation of independence at start of 1990, Macedonia wanted adopt this name for new State, Greece instead opposed fiercely and strongly supporting that inside its borders already existed a region with that name and hence the new Macedonia State needed adopting a new name. It’s only a name! ….. but 2 cultural different identities. On last NATO Summit, Macedonia (FYROM) has not been invited for fear of incidents, diplomatic also, with Greece. Does exist a State by 17 years, but it has not a definitive international recognition.
