Gunmen killed at least 28 people at a beachfront Tunisian hotel on Friday, the same day terrorists lashed out brutally in France and bombed a mosque in Kuwait.
Tunisia’s health ministry reported those deaths as well as 36 injuries in and around the Hotel Riu Imperial Marhaba in the coastal Tunisian city of Sousse. At least one gunman was also reportedly killed, according to the state-run TAP news agency.
Islamic State has launched a two-pronged offensive in northern Syria after several setbacks, re-entering the symbolic battleground town of Kobane and seizing parts of the city of Hasakeh.
In southern Syria, an alliance of rebel groups, including the Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Nusra Front, also attacked government-held areas of the city of Daraa.

Iraqi forces have said that they repelled an Islamic State attack on the town of Husaybah in the Anbar Province. A number of Islamic State militants were killed in the attack, a soldier said.
Yemeni officials and witnesses say heavy airstrikes by Saudi-led coalition warplanes pounded positions of Shiite rebels and allied forces, killing not only rebel fighters but at least 10 civilians in northern Yemen.
Explosions rocked the capital Sanaa, the southern city of Aden and the provinces of Lahj and Jouf early Friday morning, officials and witnesses said.
Two suicide bombers and another blast targeted the headquarters of Yemen’s Shiite rebels in the capital, Sanaa, on Wednesday, killing at least four people and wounding some 60 others, officials said. Earlier Saudi-led airstrikes hit a convoy of civilian vehicles and killed at least 31 people, authorities said.
The Health Ministry said in a statement that the casualty figure from the Sanaa attacks on Wednesday night was “preliminary,” as Muslims around the world prepared for the start of the holy month of Ramadan. Ambulances rushed through the streets in northern and central parts of the capital where the offices of the rebels, known as Houthis, are located.
