Two police vehicles were targeted in separate attacks in southeastern and eastern Turkey on Tuesday.
One police officer was lightly injured when a bomb planted on a road exploded as the police vehicle he was in was passing by in Yüksekova in the southeastern province of Hakkari.
Another police vehicle was attacked in the eastern Ağrı province when unidentified assailants hurled a noise bomb at a police vehicle. No one was hurt in the attack.
Three militants killed in Tunceli
Five militants, including a militant leader, were eliminated in two separate shootouts in Russia’s volatile North Caucasus Republic of Dagestan, the Russian National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) said on Wednesday.
The NAC said four militants fired at local law enforcement officers from a car at about 01:00 a.m. Moscow time on Wednesday near the village of Achisu after a squad of policemen asked them to stop.
“Policemen returned fire to the militants and all the gunmen were eliminated,” the NAC said.
President Boris Tadic of Serbia announced at a news conference in Belgrade on Thursday that Ratko Mladic, the fugitive accused of masterminding the massacre at Srebrenica in 1995, had been captured.
Mr. Mladic, a former Bosnian Serb general, was one of the world’s most wanted criminals, evading capture for more than 15 years despite an increasing international effort to hunt him down. Serbian news reports said that he was living under the name of Milorad Komadic and that he was captured after a tip that he had identification documents for Mladic and appeared physically similar.
Mr. Mladic was blamed for the worst ethnically motivated mass murder on the Continent since World War II, which resulted in the massacre of about 8,000 Muslim men and boys from the Bosnian town of Srebrenica.
Masked men, allegedly shouting they were members of the Irish Republican Army, abandoned a small bomb and fled a commercial area in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, the mayor said Saturday.
Londonderry Mayor Colum Eastwood, a member of the Social Democratic Party, said the bomb was carried into the office of the Santander bank on Shipquay Street on Saturday by the men who immediately fled the scene. The bomb, which exploded an hour later, did not cause injuries or substantial damage, he said.
Sources from Dagestan report that a fierce battle is taking place in the vicinity of Kizlyar district of CE Province of Dagestan since Sunday morning. Russian invaders are using helicopter gunships, armored vehicles and heavy mortars.
The fighting turned around at a few sites - near the village of Malaya Kozyrevka, Shaumian, Ukrainian farm and directly in the village of Chernyaevka.
There is no accurate data on the fatalities of the sides available yet. Invaders say that 7 Mujahideen were killed during Sunday’s fighting. Invaders give their losses as 1 element killed and 2 wounded. However, these data are unlikely to reflect actual numbers.
