The death toll from a Russian attack on a warehouse west of Kiev, the deadliest attack of the war so far this year, has risen to 38, with four people still missing, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on social media on Sunday.
Friday night’s attack on the warehouse, which Ukrainian officials said was used to store ammunition, caused powerful explosions and massive fires that spread to dozens of nearby homes and buildings.
Emergency workers continued to extinguish fires and identify and neutralize explosive devices at the scene in the village of Myla on Sunday, Zelensky said. He said 20 people were injured, including two children.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said Sunday it was preparing to launch “massive attacks” on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, following a campaign of drone attacks by Ukraine on an online sales company dubbed “Russia’s Amazon” as well as the country’s oil and gas sector, which Kiev says directly finances and fuels the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
