Yemen: Yemeni troops start withdrawing from Abyan province
Yemeni military troops have started withdrawing from the southern Abyan Province according to local reports, in compliance with an agreement between the internationally recognized government of Yemen and the southern separatists, known as Southern Transitional Council (STC).
Unnamed military sources told Al-Masdar Online news that Army vehicles arrived at Ataq City, in the southeast province of Shabwah, from Abyan Province on January 14.

Iran: Iran strikes back at US with missile attack at 2 military bases in Iraq
Iran struck back at the United States early Wednesday for killing a top Revolutionary Guards commander, firing a series of ballistic missiles at two military bases in Iraq housing American troops in a major escalation between the two longtime foes.
It was Iran’s most direct assault on America since the 1979 seizing of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, and Iranian state TV said it was in revenge for the U.S. killing of Revolutionary Guard Gen. Qassem Soleimani, whose death last week in an American drone strike near Baghdad prompted angry calls to avenge his slaying. A U.S. and Iraqi officials said there were no immediate reports of casualties, though buildings were still being searched.

Iraq: Qassem Soleimani, powerful Iran general, killed in US airstrike in Iraq
The Pentagon said Thursday that the U.S. military has killed Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the head of Iran’s elite Quds Force, at the direction of President Donald Trump.
An airstrike killed Soleimani, architect of Iran’s regional security apparatus, at Baghdad’s international airport Friday, Iranian state television and three Iraqi officials said, an attack that’s expected to draw severe Iranian retaliation against Israel and American interests.

Israel: Israeli airstrikes target Iranian targets in Iraq
Israeli military’s chief said Wednesday that Israel “has carried out actions” in Iraq to foil convoys of weapons that could be used against Israel.
Aviv Kohavi made the rare acknowledgment during a speech in a conference in the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya, a private research college outside Tel Aviv.
