Syria: Army deserters killed at least 18 members of President’s security forces in province of Deraa

Syrian army deserters killed at least 18 members of President Bashar al-Assad’s security forces in the southern province of Deraa on Tuesday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

It said dozens of soldiers who deserted their posts at dawn came under fire from a police station in the town of Jassem as they fled with their weapons.

Gaza Strip: Israeli raid in Gaza kills and wounds militants of Army of Islam

Muman Abu Daf led the Army of Islam, one of the small Palestinian groups that profess allegiance to or inspiration from al-Qaeda.

Five others were wounded in the strike, medical officials told the BBC.

The raid was aimed at a group of Palestinian militants preparing to fire rockets into Israel.

Yemen: Armed forces kill 6 al-Qaeda militants, call themselves as the Partisans of Sharia, in Abyan province

Yemen forces exchanged machinegun fire with al-Qaeda militants near Zinjubar town the provincial capital of Abyan southern province on Wednesday left two soldiers and six al-Qaeda militants dead, said security and local officials from Abyan province.

The clashes erupted after al-Qaeda militants launched an offensive against an army barrack of the 119th Armored brigade positioned in the east of Zinjubar town, said a local council source from Abyan.

The source confirmed that most of the killed militants were foreigners including a Saudi and Syrian nationals.

Syria: Syria blames al-Qaeda for twin suicide attacks in Damascus, at least 40 dead and 100 wounded

Suicide bombers blew up vehicles at two security service bases in the Syrian capital on Friday, state television reported while pointing the finger of blame at al-Qaeda.

At least 40 people were killed and 100 others wounded in the twin bomb attacks, Reuters reported, adding that most of those killed were civilians.

“Two attacks carried out by suicide bombers in vehicles packed with explosives targeted bases of state security and another branch of the security services,” the television said, after AFP correspondents heard two large explosions.

Syria: Since signing arab accord, over 200 dead in 2 days in Syria

Many had expected that after the signing of the Arab monitor protocol by Damascus, there will be a decline in the intensity of the regime’s killing machine.

However, that did not happen. In the past two days, more than 200 people were killed, according to figures provided by human rights organizations.

The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights conveyed that more than 80 civilians were killed Tuesday afternoon after they were shot dead by Syrian security forces in different parts of the country.
