The Saudi-led international coalition declared Tuesday the end of its military campaign four weeks after launching airstrikes on the Houthi positions in Yemen, saying the militia’s threat to the Kingdom and its neighbors had been neutralized.
The coalition has “ended Operation Decisive Storm based on a request by the Yemeni government and President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi,” said its spokesman, Brig. Gen. Ahmad Al-Assiri.
Syrian Army troops continue to gain ground in their fight against foreign-backed armed groups, and have managed to restore security to a number of areas along the border with Lebanon, Press TV reports.

Kurdish Peshmerga forces have retaken five villages from the Islamic State after launching an offensive Saturday in the south of the oil-rich province of Kirkuk, security officials told Rudaw Sunday.
The villages of Daquq, Auzeria and Atshana were among the most important areas retaken by Kurdish forces on Saturday. According to Peshmerga commanders in Kirkuk, the southeastern villages of Auzeria and Atshana were of key value to ISIS fighters to link areas under their Control to Daquq.
Heavy airstrikes by a Saudi-led coalition continued Friday in Yemen, while al-Qaeda made gains in the country’s east.
The Sunni Arab-led coalition carried out bombings in several cities, including the capital, Sana’a, the country’s second-largest city, Taiz, and the southern port city of Aden.
