Isis claimed a series of bombings in two Syrian regime bastion cities on Monday, killing more than 140 people.
Attackers set off at least five suicide bombs and two devices planted in cars, the Observatory said, the first assaults of their kind in Tartous, where government ally Russia maintains a naval facility, and Jableh in Latakia province, near a Russian-operated air base.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has announced the launching of an offensive to retake the city of Fallujah after the military told residents yesterday to get ready to leave before fighting started.
The city is a stronghold of the self-proclaimed Islamic State group.
Three bombings killed at least 63 people Tuesday in Baghdad. More than 100 are reportedly injured, as Iraq enters a second consecutive week of mass bloodshed.
The attacks are continuant with other recent strikes on predominantly Shiite areas of the Iraqi capital.
At least 37 people have been killed following a suicide bombing in the port city of Mukalla in Yemen, according to AFP. Terrorist group Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack, which targeted police recruits at a security compound.
Local hospitals were also treating another 25 people injured in the attack, according to the agency.
The Islamic State group launched an offensive against government forces in eastern Syria on Saturday and captured several buildings, including a hospital, in clashes that left more than two dozen people dead on both sides.
Deir el-Zour, near the border with Iraq, is split between government forces and IS fighters. Government-held areas have been under a months-long siege by the extremists, and the U.N. has been airdropping aid to residents amid food and medicine shortages.
