Syria: Syrian army forces retake control of ground from rebels in Hama

Syrian Army forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad on Saturday retook most of the land lost recently to rebel groups in Hama Governorate, local sources reported.

Rebel fighters of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and allied Islamist groups have recently launched a major offensive against pro-Assad troops in Hama and recaptured more than 15 villages.

Yemen: Coalition air strikes kill 16 Houthi rebels

Sixteen rebels were killed and 24 wounded in 24 hours of air raids by the Saudi-led coalition targeting the insurgents in Yemen.

The Houthi rebels were killed in air strikes on an airbase and arms depot in the east of the rebel-held Hodeidah province since Friday, a military official said.

Syria: Syrian forces and rebels fight fierce clashes in northeast Damascus

Syrian rebels launched a major offensive on Sunday that brought them close to the heart of the Old City of Damascus, and government forces responded with intense bombardments of rebel-held areas.

The escalation, reported by witnesses, state TV, rebel sources, and a monitoring group, marked a bid by the rebels to relieve army pressure on besieged areas they control to the east of the capital.
