Turkey’s prime minister said Saturday that Turkish troops have captured a strategic village in a Kurdish-held enclave in northwestern Syria, tightening its grip on Kurdish forces in the sixth week of its offensive on the area.
Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said the Kurdish Afrin district has been “surrounded” by the military, special police and paramilitary forces, as well as allied Syrian opposition fighters.

Over the last two days, 120 members of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia have been killed in the Red Sea coastal area of Yemen as a result of artillery and air strikes carried out by Arab Coalition forces, led by Saudi Arabia and supported by the UAE Armed Forces, and of clashes with the Yemeni National Resistance and UAE forces.
Yemeni military and medical sources have reported clashes between the Yemeni resistance and the UAE forces and the Houthis southeast of the Al Jarahi and Al Hamili area, adding that air raids have targeted militia forces in the districts of Zubaid, Al Jarahi and Tahita. Heavy Houthi casualties and damage to vehicles and military equipment have been inflicted.

Eight Islamic State (IS) militants, including a suicide attacker, were killed in a face-off with paramilitary forces in southern Kirkuk, a military spokesman was quoted as saying.
Speaking to Alghad Press news website, Ali al-Husseini, a spokesman for al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) northern axis, said “During a military operation to hunt for Islamic State militants in Kirkuk, paramilitary troops of al-Hashd al-Shaabi found a hideout that was used by the militant group at al-Aziziyah village in southern Kirkuk.”

Fighting raged on in Syria’s Eastern Ghouta on Tuesday, making relief operations in the rebel enclave impossible despite a “humanitarian pause” announced by Russia, the United Nations said.
“Fighting continues this morning. That is what our reports from Eastern Ghouta tell us,” said Jens Laerke, a spokesman for the UN humanitarian office.

Turkish Army has deployed fresh troops to the war against Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) in northwestern Syria’s Afrin district.
Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag said on Monday that police special forces were sent to the frontline with Kurds as reinforcement.
